From October 14 to 17, 2023, invited by School of Architecture, Chang 'an University, Xi 'an Research Base of China-Portugal Joint Laboratory of Cultural Heritage Conservation Science and Technology, Xi 'an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, Xi 'an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Green Urban and Rural and Territorial Space Smart Construction Technology Innovation, Professor Hendrik TIEBEN, Dean of the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Registered Architect in Germany (AKNW), Founding member of the Hong Kong Society of Urban Design (HKIUD) and academic Advisor, visited our school and successfully held a number of academic activities such as course teaching, special lectures, exchange and discussion.
From 9:30 am to 12:30 am on October 15, 2023, the Master program Design evaluation activity of Urban and Rural Planning, Design and Research was held in the Round Hall Lecture Hall, Xiaozhai Campus. Prof. Hendrik TIEBEN attended as a special guest, accompanied by Dr. Yiwei Zhang, PhD Researcher of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. A total of 57 students, and Associate Professor Zhang Jianxin, Associate Professor Duan Yaqiong, Associate Professor Tan Jingbin and Dr. Zhou Jizhe participated in the activity, which was hosted by Associate Professor Zhang Jianxin.According to the course design theme of "Xianyang West Gate Area Planning and Design", Professor Hendrik TIEBEN introduced the ideas and methods of urban design in Hong Kong in detail, and made detailed comments on the design achievements of the 4 groups of students in the field report, and put forward useful suggestions for modification. At the end of the activity, the students also had in-depth exchanges with Professor TIEBEN on the topics of urban space research methods and further study in Hong Kong, and the students felt that they benefited a lot.

From 7pm to 9pm on October 16, 2023, Professor Hendrik TIEBEN gave an academic lecture entitled "Public Space Trends in Hong Kong" in the North Campus, Chang 'an University. Professor Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture, Dr. Zhang Yiwei, Researcher of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and more than 160 teachers and studentsattended the lecture, which was hosted by Associate Professor Tan Jingbin. After the presentation, the teachers and students responded positively and asked questions enthusiastically. Professor Hendrik TIEBEN gave in-depth answers and useful discussions to each question, which helped the students to answer questions and enlighten their ideas. Dean Hou Quanhua thanked Professor Hendrik TIEBEN for his kind sharing, and announced that the School of Architecture and the Chinese University of Hong Kong will have a more long-term and in-depth cooperation, and provide opportunities and platforms for students to develop in the future.

On October 17, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the School of Architecture successfully held an inter-school cooperation seminar with the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The theme of this seminar is how to develop the educational exchange and cooperation between the two institutes. Hendrik TIEBEN, Dean of the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Zhang Yiwei, PhD researcher, Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture of Chang 'an University, Liu Qibo, Yu Kanhua, deans of the Department of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, Landscape and some teachers attended the conference. The meeting was chaired by Professor Hou Quanhua. On behalf of the School of Architecture of Chang 'an University, Dean Hou first extended a warm welcome to Professor TIEBEN for his visit, expressed his gratitude to Professor TIEBEN for the first two academic activities, and hoped that this series of academic activities could actively promote the in-depth cooperation between the two institutes and even the two universities. Dean TIEBEN gave a presentation entitled Challenges and Opportunities for a School of Architecture in Hong Kong in the 21st Century. This paper introduces the development of the Chinese School of Architecture in Hong Kong from three aspects: teachers, specialty setting and educational philosophy. Vice President Liu Qibo also introduced the situation of our college from various aspects such as school history, teachers and discipline system. Subsequently, the leaders and teachers of the two schools had a detailed discussion on the specific mode and method of cooperation between the two schools, and both sides agreed to cooperate in curriculum exchange, teaching practice, scientific research exchange, social practice, and reached a preliminary agreement on the cooperation project for 2023-2024. This exchange has set up an important platform for the cooperation between the School of Architecture of Chang 'an University and the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
